WEDNESDAY, 1 AUGUST 1945 EUROPEAN THEATER OF OPERATIONS (ETO) Ninth Air Force: Unit moves in Aug 45: HQ 98th Bombardment Wing from Tirlemont, Belgium to Kitzingen, Germany; HQ 99th Bombardment Wing (Medium) from Namur, Belgium to the US; HQ 100th Fighter Wing from Konigstein, Germany to the US; HQ 48th Fighter Group and 492d, 493d and 494th Fighter Squadrons from Laon, France to the US; HQ 362d Fighter Group and 377th, 378th and 379th Fighter Squadrons from Straubing, Germany to the US; HQ 363d Reconnaissance Group from Wiesbaden to Eschwege, Germany; 422d Night Fighter Squadron, IX Tactical Air Command, from Rothwesten Airfield, Kassel, Germany to the US. VIII Fighter Command: HQ 447th Bombardment Group (Heavy) and 708th and 710th Bombardment Squadrons (Heavy) begin a movement from Rattlesden, England to the US with B-17s. Unit moves from England to the US in Aug 45: HQ 486th Bombardment Group (Heavy) and 832d, 833d, 834th and 835th Bombardment Squadrons (Heavy) from Sudbury with B-17s; and 858th Bombardment Squadron (Heavy) from Harrington with B-24s.
