The Mighty Eighth Air Force 16 October 1944 MONDAY, 16 OCTOBER 1944 EUROPEAN THEATER OF OPERATIONS (ETO) STRATEGIC OPERATIONS (Eighth Air Force): Mission 680: 2 B-17s and 7 B-24s are dispatched on a night leaflet mission to France, the Netherlands and Germany. TACTICAL OPERATIONS (Ninth Air Force): Ninth AF advance HQ follows HQ Twelfth Army Group to Luxembourg. All operations are cancelled due to weather.
