EUROPEAN THEATER OF OPERATIONS (ETO)

STRATEGIC OPERATIONS (Eighth Air Force): Mission 868: 12 B-24s drop
leaflets in the Netherlands and Germany during the night. 5 B-24s fly
CARPETBAGGER missions.

TACTICAL OPERATIONS (Ninth Air Force): In Germany, 260+ A-26s, and B-26s
hit Recklinghausen, Siegburg, and Opladen marshalling yards, Siegburg storage
depot, and the town of Bochum as a target of opportunity; weather grounds
the IX and XIX Tactical Air Commands; the XXIX Tactical Air Command
(Provisional) flies alerts and covers the US XVI Corps as it completes a
drive to the Rhine River in the Rheinburg area.
