DesignThe Down Draft Gasifier
As you can see, the Down Draft Gasifier is a fairly simple device. The wood particles are stored in a hopper above the bruner. Air enters the top of the hopper and passes downward providing oxygen for the burner. The hot gasses from the fire, pass into the filter. Here they pass through wood chips and then directly into the engine manifold. The blower device only runs prior to start up and shuts down once the engine begins to draw in the hot gasses. On the left is a breakdown of all the parts required to construct the gasifier itself. |
